150 Steps: OK, now it gets real


Holy cats! Our first profile page is now live with photos, a slightly modified version of our "Expectant Mother" letter (shockingly, the agency's edits didn't include changing the greeting to "Dear Birth Mother"), and some profile information. We're now out there in the wide world for expectant mothers to look at, consider, and hopefully choose.

Wow, this just got a whole lot more real!

Some kids have blankies. Others have binkies. Yet others have their thumbs.  And still others have a favorite stuffed animal. A lovey. A snugglie. My daughter has Purple Jacket. In the Present Moment: The biggest loser

OK, I admit it...I've really poo- poo'd  "The Biggest Loser" for a long time. But, then again, I generally poo-poo reality TV... I'm generally not a fan of reality TV because I find so many of the shows to be down right mean-spirited (with one or two notable exceptions..."Project Runway" & "What Not to Wear") and I usually avoid them, but tonight I'm flipping through the channels and I land on  TBL . I'm not quite sure what makes me stay, but I get sucked in. All of the contestants in tonight's episode have been sent home from "The Ranch" for a week to give them an opportunity to spend time with the families that they've been missing for two months. And also - of course- to see how they'll do back in Reality Land. Will their old bad eating/self-destructive behaviors rear their ugly heads? In the Present Moment: Controversial post!

Sorry, but not really. No controversy. Just said that to get you here. (What a horrible blogger I am...) I stopped visiting blogs written by the anti-adoption folks so there certainly hasn't been much controversial fodder for creating posts that have that "oomph" factor to them. And I've stopped asking all of the questions and expressing my anxieties and worries. I've stopped asking you and myself, "Are we doing the right thing?" Now we've just settled in to the waiting phase. And let me tell you, it's not very exciting - for you or for me - to continually write about the fact that we're just waiting right now. So, I've been writing less and less. I miss writing the daily posts.   But when it comes right down to it, what's happened is that at long last - after more than a year of mulling and agonizing and questioning and writing and processing - I have finally gotten comfortable with our decision.
